On a crisp autumn day when the afternoon sun peeks through the clouds and the clock tells us it's time for a break, we retire to the front porch for a cup of tea and fresh pumpkin muffins.
These delicious muffins are adapted from the Granny's Muffin House cookbook. Unfortunately, only used copies are available, but it's well worth searching online for your own copy. The recipes are easy enough for a novice cook, and if you're feeling adventurous, many of the recipes can be adapted to suit your own tastes or experiments.
A touch of spice added to the tea is a perfect complement to the pumpkin muffins. Serve with pats of unsalted butter or a light cream cheese (my favorite).
Cozy wool blankets offer a neutral backdrop for the colorful plates and flower arrangement. The teapot was found at a consignment shop, as were the darling teacups and saucers. The napkins are made by Potterton Hill.
Do you enjoy a nice cup of tea in the afternoon? How do you relax when you need a break from a busy day?
